Welcome to Kantolo Community Running Track

Run, relax, share and give back.

The project

In rural Zambia, we are building something we hope will become a small gathering place for people of all ages.

A 400-metre running track — freely accessible to the local community.

Kantolo is located in Mpongwe District in Zambia, and we are currently building a running track with standard, international dimensions. The surface is firm dirt, and the entire infield will be used for organic farming.

The entire area inside the track will be used for organic farming.

The vision

But Kantolo is about more than just the running track.

We want to create a place where children and young people can meet, be active, have fun and experience a sense of achievement. Regular running events will be organised, especially for children and youth — ideally with a wholesome, home-cooked meal after the race and perhaps even a small trophy for the fastest runners!

The goal is simple: running, community and good experiences — accessible to everyone.

Who are we?

The people behind Kantolo

Richman Ndhlovu

Richman Ndhlovu is a father of five and grandfather of four. He owns the property where Kantolo is located and recently retired after a long career as a teacher, headteacher and school inspector. Richman worked for many years at the nearby Chisapa Primary School and knows the local community well.

Daniel Molyneux

Daniel Molyneux is a father of two, half English and half Swedish, and was born in Zambia. He is a psychiatrist living and working in Norway.

Together, we want to develop Kantolo into a place where people can come together — and where a simple idea for a running track can hopefully create many positive ripple effects.

Get involved

Would you like to support Kantolo?

Help us reach the finishing line! A lot has already been achieved, yet some work still remains before this first phase of the project is completed and we can welcome the local community to the inauguration of Kantolo Community Running Track! Come and stay

Experience Kantolo for yourself

Would you like to visit Kantolo?

Even now, while the project is still under development, you are more than welcome to come and visit!

The running track is far from finished, but it is already perfectly usable for a run. And if you feel like lending a hand, you are of course also welcome to help out with the construction work!

The guesthouse is simple but comfortable, with two rooms, each accommodating 2–3 people. Both rooms have their own bathroom, equipped with a flush toilet and a bucket shower.

The prices will be very reasonable and include all meals.

The food will be prepared using locally sourced ingredients, and experiencing the local food culture will be an important part of the Kantolo experience!

And best of all: 50% of what you pay for your stay goes directly towards the construction of the running track and future community running events.
